FlexVPCC and VPCC in a box solutions simplify SMB workstation administration
Paris, 9th of July 2012, NEC, provider of IT infrastructure and software, today announced the launch of new, efficient workstation virtualisation solutions for very small businesses (fewer than 20 people): VPCC in a box, and for small businesses: FlexVPCC.
Backed by the strength of its NEC Virtual PC Center (VPCC) solution, initially designed for large corporations, NEC has successfully developed new, high-quality products adapted to small organisations with less demanding requirements.
The VPCC solution provides businesses with all the flexibility needed to create the most uniform and secure virtual workstations possible, while also being adaptable to every user profile, and adjusting to the terminal being used, whether a thin client, Android Smartphone or tablet, or a traditional desktop PC.
First of all, the VPCC in a box solution brings its virtual administration server together with the 20 virtual workstations onto a single physical server. VPCC in a box can be installed on both major virtualisation environments: VMware ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V.
VPCC in a box can easily be expanded to a more traditional VPCC solution in order to accommodate a greater number of users, or when deployed on a larger scale, by redistributing resources across several servers and implementing SAN storage systems as required.
The FlexVPCC solution, on the other hand, is a scalable appliance that offers simple administration and workstation virtualisation for 50 to 200 users. With FlexVPCC, NEC can assist small businesses without any true infrastructure as yet (with AD, messaging, network) in taking the step of installing it, as well as workstation virtualisation.
NECFlexVPCC also benefits from the great flexibility offered by the hardware that hosts VPCC: the NEC FlexPower, NEC’s micro data centre, has an entirely modular design. NEC FlexPower incorporates up to 6 dual-core compute modules, 14 hard disk drives and an integrated network switch within a single enclosure, and comes with a very intuitive administration console.
NEC VPCC in a box allows small businesses with limited IT resources to be free of the trials and tribulations of physical PCs (outages, individual management, noise etc.) while benefiting from significant advantages, including:
NEC’s network of partners will also be able to provide VPCC in a box to customers with no IT resources, together with a service offering remote administration of their workstations.
NEC VPCC in a box is also an excellent solution for businesses that want to evaluate the feasibility and adaptability of workstation virtualisation to their needs over a longer period. Its flexibility will allow it to serve a large number of users by increasing physical resources, while sharing different roles once it is adopted on a larger scale.
Alongside the notable improvements that workstation virtualisation brings, such as centralised hardware administration, reduced individual management and greater convenience for users, NEC FlexVPCC offers true dynamic management of resources as they are needed. In fact, an increase or decrease in the number of required virtual machines automatically starts up and shuts down virtualisation servers, in the same way that a server outage reboots virtual machines on another compute module.
NEC FlexVPCC therefore offers the following benefits:
"Thanks to the FlexVPCC solution, NEC is able to offer businesses significant time savings by implementing extremely simple deployment and allowing them to enter the VDI world while evaluating the most appropriate technology," Sylvaine Dekeyrel, NEC EMEA Marketing Virtualisation Manager. "SMBs often do not have the time to create several Proof of Concepts (POC) of the VDI solutions on the market; this is time that we hope to save them," adds Sylvaine Dekeyrel.
VPCC in a box will be available from €400 ex. VAT (on VMware ESX or Microsoft Hyper-V)
FlexVPCC will be available from €350 ex. VAT (on VMware ESX) These prices include the software licence for Microsoft VDA; the terminal can be chosen by the customer: existing desktop PC, thin client, etc.
