London, February 20, 2013 - NEC Europe (NEC) will showcase its carrier-grade cloud computing platform for DaaS (Desktop as a Service) solution at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain from February 25 - 28 at the Fira Gran Via, Hall 3, Stand 3B4.
Key benefits of NEC’s DaaS platform includes; 24 hours availability, always protected data, easy to use web management tools, multi-device access, resources optimisation, maintenance cost reduction, integration with current IT environment, no risk for technological obsolescence, shift from CAPEX to OPEX and fast and simple start without installations.
With the DaaS platform, Telefonica launched “Movistar Virtual PC”, its latest DaaS solution for SMEs and large enterprises in February 15, 2013. NEC Cloud Competence Centre in Spain has delivered the platform, as well as professional services including operation and maintenance of the platform hosted in Telefonica’s Data Center.
Movistar Virtual PC provides multi-device, ubiquitous and secure access to virtual desktops hosted in Telefonica’s Datacenter from any devices and anywhere. Thanks to its “pay per use” model, the DaaS solution allows Telefonica’s business customers to optimise their IT expenditure to introduce and maintain office PCs.
Luis Miguel Dominguez, general manager, NEC Cloud Competence Centre in Spain said, “Currently companies and employees strongly depend on PCs in their office. Using data and business applications requires employees to be with their PC in any circumstance, and this brings a risk of theft and loss. In addition, it forces IT department to manage fleet of heterogeneous and distributed PCs. The new DaaS solution from Telefonica solves these problems by improving mobility, security and management capabilities.”
