London and Tokyo, June 11, 2013 – NEC Corporation today announced its participation in IFSEC South Africa 2013, from 18 to 20 June 2013 at Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa.
“Supporting African government and business to build a better, smarter and safer society with innovative Public Safety solutions is our top priority,” said Eugene le Roux, Managing Director, NEC Africa Ltd. “Looking forward, NEC will continue to capitalize on its world-leading biometric technologies to deliver reliable security systems such as access control for important facilities and national/state ID systems for the African market.”
At stand L11, Hall2, NEC will showcase a range of Public Safety Solutions including;
(1) Facial recognition technologies
NEC's facial recognition technologies have been adopted globally for government, security and commercial applications, including law enforcement applications, immigration systems, and access control for important facilities. NEC’s facial image matching algorithms were recognised as the world’s fastest and most accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, commissioned by the United States Department of Homeland Security in 2010.
(2) Hybrid finger identification technology
NEC’s hybrid finger identification technology simultaneously scans both fingerprint and finger vein patterns, making it particularly difficult for impostors to deceive the authentication system using it.
(3) High sensitivity camera for video surveillance
NEC’s high sensitivity camera delivers high-quality, full-colour video images, even in full darkness. It offers sensitivity and quality ideal for outdoor night-time surveillance in important facilities such as harbours, airports, and refineries.
(4) Video surveillance solutions over wireless broadband access
The combination of NEC’s microwave radio (iPasolink series) and network camera allows real-time video surveillance, even in rural areas where optical fibre cables are not available.
In addition, NEC Display Solutions will exhibit the 46 inch x 4 multi-screen video wall as a control room solution.
