NEC Laboratories Europe joins EU-initiated International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA)
Heidelberg, Germany, 4th April, 2019 – NEC Laboratories Europe, with its strong experience in blockchain technologies, has joined INATBA. INATBA is the EU-initiated International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications that will promote and support Blockchain and other distributed ledger infrastructures for an inclusive digital economy and society.
INATBA provides the framework for a constructive dialogue between stakeholders, public authorities and regulators to allow regulatory approaches to blockchain and other distributed ledger technology to converge at a global level. Of particular importance to NEC is INATBA’s commitment to an open, transparent and inclusive global model of governance that would apply to blockchain and other distributed ledger technology infrastructures.
Mr. Daichi Iwata, who leads blockchain projects at NEC, emphasizes: “We need a place for dialogue between public and private sectors to leverage these initiatives to cater for social issues and to create an effective governance model. INATBA is where the interests of various stakeholders will be taken into consideration.”
In line with INATBA’s goal to develop sector-specific guidelines and specifications for blockchain and distributed ledger technology applications in specific sectors, NEC intends to define a review cycle of minimum requirements for digital architecture, including the role of governance and high-level technology layers.
Dr. Ghassan Karame, who leads security research at NEC Laboratories Europe GmbH, highlighted the importance of this activity: “The blockchain emerges as an innovative technology that will be essential to provide a trusted framework for many sensitive applications. NEC will leverage its presence in INATBA and its huge expertise in blockchain security to promote blockchain services that are tailored to meet high standards of security and privacy across various use cases.”
The INATBA brings together 65 participants, both from 26 EU member states and associated countries including Japan. For further details, please visit: https://www.inatba.org/
