Leadership Message

NEC Telecom MODUS, Ltd (NTML) became a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC from 2008, responsible for the development of NEC’s mobile network infrastructure solutions.

From this time, NTML has made a significant contribution to the R&D activities for NEC, focusing on the design and development of mobile radio-communication base stations and associated switching and control systems. The activities are based on international standards developed by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) within the scope of the International Mobile Telecommunications, such as IMT-2000 (3rd Generation), IMT-Advanced (4th Generation), IMT-2020 (5th Generation), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Currently NTML focuses on the development of the 5G technologies for inclusion in or as key parts of the development of NEC’s mobile network infrastructure products. This includes base station technology analysis and design documentation, network/system architecture and feasibility studies of core technologies and evaluation by own simulators.

NTML has been practicing "Better Products, Better Services," which is the founding spirit of the NEC Group. We have constantly improved our advanced 3GPP technology, striving to provide advanced technology of the highest quality.  Our rich heritage has allowed us to draw on a wealth of experience and know-how, which has facilitated the way in which we have improved 3GPP technology and by which we will be able to continue to improve it.

NTML has the world's top-class development skills, Radio Access Network technologies, and know-how to realize true commercial quality. Toward the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), we always continue to improve these fields, challenge for better products and better services through the provision of software, hardware as well as research and development material provided to our parent company NEC.
